1 C. brown sugar
1 C. white sugar
1 C. shortening
3 eggs, beaten
4 C. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp.vanilla

Filling:
1 lb. dates, cut
1/2 C. sugar
1/2 C. water
1 C. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine dates, sugar, water and cook until thick, and add nuts. Mix sugar, shortening till creamed, add eggs and dry ingredients. Divide in two, roll dough about 1/2" thick, spread with filling. Roll like a jelly roll. Chill overnight, slice and bake at 375º for approximately 8 minutes.
