1 ¼ cups all-purpose white flour
1 ½ cups white sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. salt
½ cup vegetable oil
7 egg yolks, unbeaten
¾ cup cold water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup egg whites
½ tsp. cream of tarter

Preheat oven to 325° F

Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, salt & cocoa. Stir thoroughly to blend. Make a hollow & add oil, egg yolks, cold water & vanilla. Mix til smooth.

Measure egg whites (use extra large eggs and 7 egg whites) into large, stainless or glass bowl; add cream of tarter, beat til stiff peaks form.

Pour egg yolk mixture over beaten egg whites, folding in gently until blended. Pour into ungreased 10x4” tube pan.

Bake in slow oven (325° F) 55 minutes, then increase heat to 350° F and continue baking for 10-15 minutes.

Turn pan upside down, resting tube pan on bottom of glass tumbler. Let stand til COLD before removing from pan. To remove, loosen and shake from pan. Ice with CHOCOLATE GLAZE
