2 3/4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 slightly beaten egg
1 tsp. almond extract
1/3 c. whole blanched almonds, halved

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º
Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles corn meal. Add egg and almond extract, mix well. Roll dough out to approx. 1/4 inch thick. Cut into approx. 2 inch cookies (can be shapes). Place on ungreased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Press a half almond into the middle of each cookie.
Bake for about 15-20 minutes.
