Cake
- 1 cup oatmeal (not instant)
- 1 1/4 cup hot water
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/3 cup flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt

Topping
- 1 1/2 sticks of margarine
- 2 tblspn. evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 cups shredded coconut
- 2 cups chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cake
- Pour hot water over oatmeal and let stand
- Cream sugars and margarine.
- Beat in eggs
- Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Add to mixture and mix well.
- Pour into prepared 9x13 pan
- Bake at 350 for 35 minutes

Topping
- Melt margarine in a saucepan and mix in evaporated milk
- Add brown sugar and boil for 1 minute
- Mix in coconut and pecans
- Pour mixture over the top of the cake while hot and broil in oven for 1-2 minutes. Enough to make the topping crispy.

Best to serve warm with vanilla ice cream on top. Or cold. Or to sneak a piece in the middle of the night. Or for breakfast.
