1/2 c. Chopped dates
1/2 c. Raisins
Pour 1 1/2 c. Boiling water over above, let stand 20 mins then add:

3/4 c. Sugar
3 T. Shortening
1 egg beaten
1 1/2 c. Sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt

Mix all together. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes.
