1 package hot Italian sausage
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning, divided
1 tsp. salt
3 14 oz. jars marinara sauce ( I used Tuscano Marinara)
4 cups shredded Italian cheese blend, divided
1 16 oz. package small curd cottage cheese
1 15 oz. container ricotta cheese
2 large eggs
1/2 t. garlic powder
1 16 oz. package lasagna noodles, cooked

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 359º
2.Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage, beef, onion, garlic, 2 t. Italian seasoning, and salt; cook, stirring often, for 13 minutes or till browned and crumbly. Add marinara sauce, and cook, stirring often, for 15 minutes.
3. In a food processor, combine 2 cups shredded cheese blend, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, eggs, garlic powder, and remaining 1 1/2 t. Italian seasoning. Process till smooth, about 3 seconds.
4. Lightly grease a 4 1/2-quart pan. Spread 4 cups sauce mixture in bottom of pan; top with 6 noodles.
5. Spread 2 cups cheese mixture over noodles; top with 2 cups sauce mixture. Place 6 noodles on top of sauce mixture, and spread with 2 cups cheese mixture; top with 2 cups sauce mixture. Top with 6 noodles, remaining cheese mixture, and remaining sauce mixture. Sprinkle with remaining 2 cups shredded cheese blend.
6. Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 minutes longer or till bubbly and golden.

I add a can of chopped tomatoes to recipe. Also, it takes a long time to bake, especially if it has been frozen. This is the lasagna I made for Jaclyn's reception after she graduated from law school.
