1 Jiffy yellow cake mix, or half of a regular yellow cake mix. Mix and bake as directed in a 9" x 13" pan.
5-6 oz. cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
4 oz. Cool Whip whipped topping.
1 can cherry pie filling

Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar and cool whip. Beat together using mixer. Spread on top of cooled cake. Spread pie filling over this layer. Chill several hours. Will keep several days in refrigerator.

Use half of a regular cake mix, because you want a flatter cake. If you want to use the whole cake mix, just bake part of the batter as cupcakes, or make two cakes. Use one now and save one for later. Or have your husband eat the entire second cake. Not that I'm saying that ever happened at my house, but, it could have.
This dessert was served at the first ever Walker family reunion in 1987 at Clear Lake, Iowa. Sarah was only 7 months old
