2 pkgs of Red Star Yeast
1 cup lukewarm water
1 pint milk
3 teaspoons salt
¾ cup sugar
1/3 cup margarine
2/3 cup shortening (Crisco)
2 eggs
some butter – approx. 1 or 2 sticks
10 cups flour (approx.) (Gold Medal)

. Heat water
2. Put 2 pkgs of yeast into 1 cup lukewarm (just barely hot to the touch) water.
a. Add one teaspoon sugar and stir until dissolved.
3. Put 1/3 cup margarine and 1/3 cup Crisco in large bowl.
a. put in ¾ cup sugar
b. pour in milk – 2 cups just steaming .
c. put in 3 teaspoons salt – generous.
4. When this cools, add the yeast stuff.
5. Add about 4 cups flour and stir until smooth – not melted. STIR LIKE THE DEVIL! (Or, use machine.)
6. Beat and add in two (2) eggs. STIR
7. Add 1 to 2 cups flour at a time and STIR.
a. You may not need the last 2 cups of flour. Just so the whole ball of dough is not too sticky, but nice and soft.
b. Dump the whole ball on a surface covered with some of the flour and knead.
8. When well kneaded, place the ball of dough in a greased bowl – grease the top of the dough ball.
a. cover with waxed paper and then cover the bowl. Put in fairly warm place to rise.
9. Let rise about 1 or 2 hours – to double size.
10. Poke it down to get the air out and let rise another half hour.
11. Make rolls:
a. roll out dough
b. butter generously
c. sprinkle on brown sugar (light) and cinnamon (not too much.)
d. roll tightly and cut in 1 inch rolls.
e. place in greased pan and allow to rise (They must be light enough to retain a dent.)
12. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 – 15 minutes and then begin to watch to see when nice and brown.
13. EAT ONE!
