½ c. shortening
¾ c. sugar
1 egg
1 T. milk
1 t. vanilla
1½ c flour
¼ t. baking powder
¼ t. salt
1 oz. unsweetened chocolate

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Stir in milk and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and stir.

Divide dough in 2 parts. Into 1 part blend chocolate. Roll out white and chocolate dough between waxed paper to 9 by 12 inches. Lay white layer on chocolate layer. Roll double layer of dough tightly, beginning at wide side, into a 12 inch long and 2 inch diameter roll. Chill overnight. Slice 1/8 inch thick. Place slices a little apart on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350º
