1 cup butter
1 1/4 cup white sugar
1 egg beaten
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cup sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup chopped cherries
1 oz unsweetened chocolate
1/4 cup chopped pecans
2 tbsp poppy seed
Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, add egg and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder, and salt - mix until all blended. Divide dough into 3 parts. Add cherries and a little red food coloring to one, chocolate to another and the nuts and poppy seeds to the third one. Pat out on wax paper ( about a 3" X 9" flat dough) in this order: One layer on top of the other..1st layer chocolate dough, 2nd layer cherry dough and 3rd layer dough with nuts and poppy seeds. Smooth all the dough edges and refrigerate until firm. Slice into 1/4" slices and bake @ 350º for 10 minutes or until light and brown on edges.
