Ingredients:  
1 1/2 - 2 lbs ground beef
1/2 c chopped onion
3 or 4 bay leaves
3 or 4 carrots, peeled & diced
3 or 4 celery, diced
2 potatoes, peeled & diced
1 - 2 c finely chopped cabbage
parsley, dried basil, garlic & onion powder & any other favorite spice!!
1 qt tomatoes
1 - 2 qts tomato juice
3 c water
5 beef bouillon cubes

Directions:
Directions:
In large soup pot, saute ground beef & onion until cooked. Add bay leaves, veggies (except cabbage), tomatoes, juice water & bouillon cubes. Season with spices. I would add about 1 tsp of each, then add additional to taste. Bring to a boil, simmer for a half hour, add cabbage. Simmer until cabbage and veggies are cooked.

This recipe originally came from my friend/cousin Karen Kirby. Of course I tweaked it to my liking! You have to experiment with your spices. I am a little heavy handed sometimes. This is a great fall and winter soup!! I say it is good luck if you get the bay leaf! Jim doesn't believe me as he usually gets it!!
