1 c. sugar

4 c. flour, sifted

Combine butter and sugar; then add eggs. Then, add flour.

Bake at 375º on ungreased cookie sheet (no parchment paper; use foil) about 12 minutes.

** If dough is sticking to cookie press, grease the stencil piece.

These were always a part of our Christmas sweets. A favorite in our family are the Lindzer Tarts (raspberry jam between two cookies and sprinkled with confectionery sugar); ones with chocolate icing are a close second.

Mom always them for Christmas when we were growing up; Jill and her children have carried the torch. They are nice, too, at Easter or for showers if you use pastel icings.
