Ingredients:
Ingredients:
12 tbsp. Crisco shortening
½ cup milk
3 large eggs
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup diced maraschino cherries
1 ¾ cups plus 2 tbsp. granulated sugar
5 ½ cups flour
½ cup sifted cocoa powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. allspice
2 ¼ tsp. pure vanilla extract
2 tbsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
In mixer, cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla on low speed. Combine flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, allspice, and baking powder in a separate bowl. Add these dry ingredients gradually into the mixer with a little of the milk with each addition. Add the raisins, walnuts, and cherries and mix on medium speed until thoroughly mixed. Note this is very stiff cookie dough; therefore drop by tablespoons on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a pre-heated 375º oven for 10 minutes. When cookies are done place on a wire cooling rack. Dip cookies in a glaze of confectionery sugar and water. Let dry. Yields about 7 dozen cookies depending on size.
