2 cups sugar
4 cups water
1-2 cans grapefruit sections
Juice of 2 lemons

Boil sugar and water together until sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool. Add broken-up grapefruit sectons (don't be shy about using your hands) and the lemon juice. Freeze in ice cube trays, small cups, or in a 9x13 baking dish. Allow a few minutes to thaw at serving time. When using a baking dish, break up with a fork and serve in bowls.

This is a great appetizer for a hot summer day...and can be made up in advance. Grandma Jensen always topped it with a maraschino cherry and some cherry juice. This was a big hit at several family wedding receptions! (with fresh grapefruit sections by Grandpa Landru in Florida!)
