5 lbs turnips, washed and cut into fourths
1 can beets, sliced
water
white vinegar
salt

Directions:
Directions:
Salt the turnips and let stand overnight.

Alternately layer turnips and beets in a jar. Make a brine of one part vinegar to 2 parts lukewarm water and salt. Cover and allow three days before serving.

Cauliflower and cabbage can be pickled in the same way.
