1/2 lb. butter or 2 sticks margarine
1/2 cup Crisco
3 cups sugar
3 cups plain flour
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sweet milk
2 tsp. lemon extract
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter or margarine and Crisco. Add sugar and eggs; beat vigorously.
Sift dry ingredients. Add flavoring to the milk. Add milk alternating with the flour.
Beat at least 10 minutes or more.
Bake in 325º oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes in a tube pan that has been greased and floured.

If your oven bakes fast, cut temperature down so the cake won't get too brown!

This is the recipe my Aunt Hallie Smith made. I don't know who Pansy is, but I think she was someone in our family from Camp Creek, WV.
