2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
pinch of salt
lump of butter
2 T white Karo syrup
1 cup black walnuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. white vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Put sugar, milk, salt, butter and Karo in a large saucepan. Bring to a soft ball stage (halfway between soft ball and hard ball on my thermometer).

After cooked to this point, add vanilla and vinegar. Mix well and beat until creamy. Add black walnuts. Pour into greased 8-inch pan when ready. score when set. Let cool.

Mother used to make this fudge all the time, and it was one of the candies included on her plates of goodies she used to take to the neighbors at Christmastime. Mother was a wonderful candymaker!
