2 c. flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 c.(2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
5 T. unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 c. milk
1 1/2 c. semi-sweet or white chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 325º
Line a baking sheet with foil. Use the same foil for the 3 batches you bake.

In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking soda & salt together with a spoon.

In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugars & vanilla using a mixer.

Blend the cocoa & milk, beating at low speed into the butter mixture.

Add flour mixture slowly & beat at low speed.

Fold in chocolate chips & chopped nuts.

Drop 1/4 c. portions of batter onto the foil lined baking sheet.

Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the tops look dry.

Cool cookies on sheet for 5 minutes.

Remove cookies from the foil, place on wax paper or paper towel to finish cooling.
