1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
5 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat over to 400 degrees. Blend shortening and sugar on high speed of mixer. Add and blend in eggs. Combine flour, soda, and salt in a separate bowl and blend with whisk. Alternate adding flour mixture and sour cream. Add vanilla and work into dough. Roll out dough for thickness desired. Bake at 400 degrees for about 7 minutes depending on the thickness of the cookie.

I wrote out this recipe as part of a handwriting project in third grade when we complied a cookbook .for Mother's Day. We still have the cookbook. These are the cookies Santa Claus gets when he visits.
