1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
2 cups sugar
2 Tbsp. white Karo
2 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Mix buttermilk and soda in large saucepan and let stand for 5 min. Add sugar, Karo and butter and bring to boil, stirring constantly until mixture turns caramel in color and thickens to soft ball stage. (this will boil over if not careful). This cooking process takes a while. Remove from heat and add vanilla and pecans and beat until it loses its gloss and thickens. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper and cool. These pralines are so smooth and creamy they just melt in your mouth!
***Soft ball stage - drop spoonful of hot candy into bowl of cold water. It is ready when you can form a soft ball in water.
