1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. milk
3 1 oz. squares unsweetened chocolate, grated
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 well-beaten eggs
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Oven - 350º.

Heat 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 c. milk, and chocolate in double boiler until chocolate melts. Cool. Stir shortening to soften. Gradually add remaining brown sugar. Cream until light and fluffy.
Add vanilla, eggs, and beat until mixed.
Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together three times. Add to creamed mixture alternately with 1/2 c. milk, a little at a time.
Beat smooth after each addition.
Add chocolate mix. Beat well.
Bake in two 9" rounds - 30 min.
Put together with frosting and cover with frosting.
