5 c. flour
2 T. salt
2 large eggs, beaten
3/4 c. poppy, sesame or mixed seeds
pinch baking soda
1 c.oil
4 large onions,chopped

Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F. Brown onions in a medium hot skillet. Set aside. Sift dry ingredients together. Add onions. Stir. Add beaten eggs. Mix together. Gradually add oil and stir. If batter is too stiff, add 1 or 2 T. water. Roll out dough on a floured board. Cut into diamond shapes with a sharp knife. (Alternative, original old fashioned method was to use a juice or yahrzheit glass dipped in flour to cut into circles).Bake for 1/2 hour.

This recipe was recorded by measuring amounts used in original preparation, since Great-Grandma Gussie did not have a written recipe. So, one day I had her prepare the recipe while I carefully measured out each ingredient as she took it in hand or poured it out. This was sometime in the 1960's, when she was in her 70's and still baking in her cramped Kings Highway, Brooklyn, NY apartment kitchen.
