1/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. nuts
1 egg, beaten
1 c. dates
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Frosting:
6 Tbsp. butter
10 Tbsp. brown sugar
4 Tbsp. cream
1 c. shredded coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over dates and let cool. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg. Add date mixture alternately with dry ingredients. Add nuts. Bake 1 hour at 350º.

Icing:
Boil three minutes. While stirring, pour over warm cake. Put under broil to brown.
