"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Bettye Hamlin's recipe. Bettye is Texas #1 cook. We were fortunate that she and John decided to reside in Maryland and be two of the founding members of the Good Sam FootHill Campers Chapter. Whenever we were having Pot Luck dinners - I never gave Bettye a choice - she was always assigned "dessert". FootHill Campers were founded in 1985.
