1 pound butter or margarine
½ pound brown sugar
1 egg
12 oz molasses
¼ tsp nutmeg
1½ tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp ginger
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp allspice
1 tbsp baking soda dissolved in warm water
About 9 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients and refrigerate for a few hours. Roll thin. Cut desired shapes. A labor of love but my family loves them. Takes 6-8 hours. Bake at 325º for 8-10 minutes.
