1 qt. distilled vinegar
3 qt. water
1 pkg. pickling spice
1/2 c. salt
2 lbs. lean inside round or eye of round beef
1 T. vegetable oil
1 T. water
salt and pepper to taste
garlic to taste
Knorr meat seasoning, to taste

3 slices bacon
4 T. butter
1 large onion, sliced
1 apple, sliced
1 T. sour cream
cornstarch

Oven: 400º
Mix the first four ingredients and bring to boil. Remove from heat and cool. Remove excess fat from meat. Put meat in a bowl and cover completely with marinade. Cover bowl with clear wrap and refrigerate for 3 days. Remove meat from bowl and dry with paper towel. Put vegetable oil and water in a roasting pan and add meat. Season lightly with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic and meat seasoning. Squirt a little catsup on meat. Add bacon, butter, onion and apple. Cover roasting pan. Roast for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until meat juices are clear. Remove meat from pan. For the sauce, add enough water to meat juices to make a thin sauce. Add sour cream. Bring sauce to boil and thicken with cornstarch. Serve with noodles and red cabbage.
