Cream:
1 c. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 unbeaten egg yolk
2 1/4 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Stir above until it forms a dough; (chill for easy handling)
Shape dough the size of marbles; place on ungreased baking pan & flatten to 1/8" thickness
Make design on each cookie by pressing each with a fork in 1 direction
Bake @ 325 degrees until they begin to brown;( about 8 or 9 minutes) remove after a bit of cooling
(this is a sandwich cookie so ice with the following Browned Butter Frosting)

Brown 2 Tbsp. of butter in a saucepan
Remove from heat and blend 1 1/4 cup of sifted, powdered sugar
Gradually add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla & 4-5 tsp. of cream until of spreading consistency; then ice between two cookies

This receipe will yield about 4 dozen sandwich cookies.
