9 cooking apples, peeled cored and sliced, (Granny Smith work well)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
13 oz sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 sleeve buttery round crackers, Ritz crackers, crushed
1/2 cup butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
1) Simmer apples in 1/2 cup water until just softened, but barely tender. Drain and set aside.

2) Combine remaining ingredients. Place a layer of apples in a buttered 9 X 13 or slightly smaller casserole dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 flour/cheese mixture. Repeat layering.

3) Bake at 350º for 35-45 minutes.
