1 16 oz. pkg dry black eyed peas
2 lb pork sausage or hamburger meat (browned)
1 med onion, chopped
1/2 c celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic
1 can tomatoes
1/2 c water
2 T sugar
2 1/2 T chile pwdr
1/4 tsp black pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and soak peas overnight, then drain.

Saute meat, onion, and seasonings til done. Add peas, tomatoes and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer or 1 1/2 hours or til done.
