3 lb. light brown sugar
1 lb. dates
1 lb. figs
1 lb. seeded raisins
1 lb. nuts
milk to moisten (about 1 cup0
1/2 lb. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Moisten sugar with milk and butter, cook to soft ball stage in cold water. Take from stove and beat. Add fruit and nuts and beat well. Take clean cloths wrong out with cold water. Make long rolls of candy and wrap in cold damp cloths. And leave until dried. Slice into pieces.
Keeps well.

Old recipe from Aunt Peg Trundle, lady of the mansion at Exeter in Leesburg. Exeter was the Trundle Plantation. The Manor House was at the spot where the present Wal-Mart is. (2013)
