1 stick butter or margarine
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
5 egg yolks
2 cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
1 cup chopped nuts
1 small can coconut
5 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Cream Cheese Frosting:
8 oz. softened cream cheese
1/2 stick butter or margarine
1 box powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar and beat until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well. Combine flour and soda and add to mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla, nuts, and coconut. Fold in egg whites. Pour into three 9 inch pans and bake at 350º for 25 minutes or until done. Cool and frost.

Prepare frosting: Beat cream cheese and margarine until smooth. Add sugar and mix well. Add vanilla and beat until smooth. Spread on cake and sprinkle with nuts.
