1 lb. lean ground beef
1 lb. sweet Italian sausage (optional) sliced & cooked
2 lg. onions chopped
1 pkg. fresh mushrooms washed & sliced
2 glugs Worcestershire
3 to 5 cloves garlic crushed
2 lg. cans tomatoes whole
1 can tomato paste
1 med. green pepper chopped (optional)

1 T. Parsley
2 T. Basil
Salt & pepper to taste
A sprinkle of sugar (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot or Dutch oven on medium heat add a little olive oil for the onions. Add ground beef and brown. I start adding seasonings at this point to cook in the meat. Next would be mushrooms and any other optional veggies you like. During the winter we have spinach in the garden, I like it. Next would be the tomatoes with liquid. I hand crush the tomatoes. Stir well always tasting for flavor. Add tomato paste (if not thick enough SLOWLY add more paste a little at a time).
Let simmer on stovetop for at least an hour. Taste and continue seasoning if necessary.
I sprinkle a little sugar to help with the acidic taste about 1/2 t.
Now fix the pasta and have plenty for seconds.
