"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 sticks butter
1 1/2 cups oil
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
7 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together the sugars, butter, oil, eggs and vanilla. Add the flour, cream of tartar and baking soda.

Roll into balls and flatten.

Bake at 350º for 10 to 15 minutes.

This makes a very large batch of cookies! Sometimes I will bake a pan or two and put the dough in the fridge and make more in a couple or three days. Dough will keep for a few days covered in the fridge.

I have also baked them plain, sprinkled them with cinnamon & sugar or used colored sugars or sprinkles for different holidays.

Personal Notes:
This cookie recipe was given to me many years ago when my boys were small by my Aunt Violet. I used them many times over the years to take to school parties because I had plenty to take to school and still have some at home.
