1c Butter or Margarine softend
1 tsp Vanilla
1/4 tsp Salt
2 c Flour
Confectioners Sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º. Cream butter, 1/2 c suger, vanilla and salt until fluffy. Stir in flour until well blended. chill for 30 minutes or until firm enough to handle. shape into 1 in. balls Place i inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light golden 12 - 15 minutes.Remove to rack (close to each other) and while cookies are still warm sift heavely with confectioners sugar. Cool and store in air tight container. Before serving, sift with more suger. Makes about 48.

Note: If disired. Stir in 1c very fine chopped pecans with the flour. However, these cookies will not be as tender as the plain version.

My mother (Dorothy) would make these cookies every year for the holidays. She thought they were no big deal so one year she did not make them and the entire family was very upset. After that every year every family member would get there very own tin of cookies. That was the best part of Christmas.
