¼ cup white sugar
¾ cup brown sugar packed
1 cup softened butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts or pecans (optional)
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Heat the oven to 375 º F.
With an electric mixer beat sugar, butter, vanilla, and egg on medium speed until creamy. Using a wooden spoon, stir in the flour, baking soda, salt, nuts, and chocolate chips.
On a parchment lined sheet drop dough (about a teaspoon full for each cookie).
Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Edges will be set but centers will still be soft.
Cool for 5 minutes on the cookie sheet to let cookies set. Remove to cooling rack.
