1½ cups shortening (Crisco)
1½ cups sugar
2 bottles Brier Rabbit brand dark molasses (Dark Green Label)
1½ teaspoons ginger
1½ tablespoons baking soda
1½ cups buttermilk
5 pounds flour (approximate)
2 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar and shortening. Add ginger, baking soda and molasses and mix thoroughly. Add 9 cups flour to this mixture and continue to mix alternately with the buttermilk. Continue to add additional flour until mixture can be rolled and cookies cut out without sticking (may take an additional 4-5 cups flour). Whip eggs and brush tops of cookies with egg mixture before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes until cookies start to crack.
