Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pound bacon
2 (8 oz.) cans whole water chestnuts
soy sauce
brown sugar

Zippy Dipping Sauce (optional):
1/2 cup miracle whip or mayo
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chili sauce

Simmer in saucepan until heated through and sugar dissolves and slightly thickened.

Directions:
Directions:
Marinate the water chestnuts in soy sauce for at least 1 hour. Drain.
Cut bacon strips in half and partially cook. Strips should still be soft, not crisp. Roll each water chestnut in brown sugar and wrap in bacon. Secure with a toothpick. Arrange on a roasting rack or broiler pan. Bake at 400º for about 30 minutes. If you like them even crispier, place them under broiler for a few minutes, but watch them so they don't burn! Serve with warm zippy sauce, if desired. Another option is to pour the sauce over the bacon wraps before baking. Make sure to grab a few before serving, or you might not get any!

Note: To make even more appetizers, cut the water chestnuts in half and the bacon strips in thirds.

This has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. I would always ask Grandma Rita to make them for the holiday gatherings... LOVE LOVE LOVE them!
