Directions:
I use a deep fryer set at 356* for 5 minutes....

>Make the flour mixture....sugar, salt, pepper, 4 cups flour set aside
>Measure warm water into mixing bowl and add yeast.
>Add a little of the flour mixture and set aside to raise a little (like paste)
>Make a well in the flour mixture and add dissolved yeast.
>Add shortening to warm milk then add eggs to milk, mix.
>Add all to flour mixture and beat with your hand.
>Add more flour if needed.
>Let rise once.
>Dough should be soft and wet.
>Take spoonfuls (I used the clicker-less ice-cream scooper, first sprayed with Pam) place cut up anchovies (about 7-8 pieces on top of dough in bowl) and then scoop up the dough with the anchovies on top, flap dough over anchovies to cover. Fry in deep oil until brown.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Drinking espresso martinis is a must during the making of these!
This is served as an appetizer on Christmas Eve. Can count as one of the 7 fishes! May do some without the anchovies also.
