1/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup milk
3 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla

Icing:

3 cups sugar, divided
1 cup evaporated milk
2 sticks butter
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter & sugar together. Add eggs, beat well. Sift flour & baking powder together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour. Add vanilla.
Bake at 350º for 20 – 30 minutes or until done depending on the pan size used.

In a large sauce pan heat 1 ½ cups sugar, evaporated milk, butter & salt. In a cast iron skillet, place remaining ½ cup sugar. Over low heat stir until it melts & turns brown.
Add browned sugar to contents of sauce pan, stirring constantly. Cook to soft ball stage. (240˚)
Remove from heat & add vanilla. Beat with hand mixer until of spreading consistency.
