2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 t. butter flavoring
3 c. sifted all purpose flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1 pkg. German Sweet Chocolate
1 c. shortening
2 t. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening and add eggs, flavors and buttermilk. Sift together flour, salt, soda and add. Mix well. Add softened chocolate and blend well.
Cook in well greased and floured 9" tube pan or bundt pan about 1 1/2 hours at 300º.
When done place cake under tight fitting cover while still hot and leave covered til cold. I use margarine in place of shortening.

All my siblings remember Momma making this recipe at Christmas for Mr. Schwabenton who taught us all at Kenston Forest. Probably why we passed.
