1 (4 1/2 to 5 lb.) brisket
1 1/2 c. catsup
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. A-1 steak sauce
1 T. celery seed
3/4 c. chili sauce
3/4 c. beef stock
1/4 c. prepared mustard
1 T. Worcestershire and soy sauce
1 clove garlic
1 dash Tabasco and liquid smoke
dash salt and pepper

Oven: 350º
Rub 1 T. liquid smoke, 1/2 tsp. each, garlic salt and celery salt into the brisket. Place brisket in a (9 X 13-inch)casserole dish; cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake for 3 1/2 to 4 hours in covered pan or 6 to 8 hours on low in a slow cooker. Remove meat and drain most of the stock (reserving 3/4 c. for use in the sauce). Cool meat; slice across the grain. Mix sauce ingredients; pour over sliced meat. Simmer in a skillet or slow cooker for one hour or bake in the oven for 45 minutes. (Delores Boehnke, Kansas City)
