1/2 c. dates (chopped)
1/2 c. raisins
1/3 c. oleo
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 T. dark Karo
3/4 c. hot water
Boil 3 minutes. Cool then add:
1 egg
1 c. candied fruit
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Pour into waxed paper line medium bread pan. Bake 2 hour 275º.
