Directions:1. Combine pudding mixes in a large bowl, stir well then make pudding with cold milk according to package directions. Place into refrigerator to chill. It can be chilled up to overnight.
2. Place a medium clean metal bowl into the freezer to chill for the whipped cream.
3. Slice the bananas and layer cookies, bananas and chilled pudding in a serving dish. Start with the cookies and end with pudding. Repeat layers at least twice.
4. Pour the cream into a well-chilled bowl and add the sugar and vanilla. Using an electric hand mixer or balloon whisk, beat the cream to the desired consistency. For soft peaks, the cream will be just thick enough to hold its shape in soft billows. For stiffly beaten cream, the beaters or whisk wires will leave distinct traces on the cream and stand in firm peaks when the beaters are lifted.
5. Spread whipped cream over pudding and serve as soon as possible to keep cookies crisp. |

Notes: I really prefer whipped cream on my banana pudding, but meringue lovers can find good meringue recipes to add to this pudding. A mixture of the banana crème and vanilla flavor pudding mixes gives a distinct, but not overpowering banana flavor. Purists would make their own pudding from scratch, but I've always had good luck with these two mixes.
