1/2 c. water
2 pkg. yeast
3 T. sugar
1 T. salt
1/3 c. shortening
2 c. hot water
6 c. flour
1 egg white, beaten
sesame seeds, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Oven: 400º ~ Yield: 1 large or 2 medium loaves
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. water. Mix remaining water, sugar, salt and shortening in a large bowl. Add 3 c. flour; beat well. Stir in yeast mixture and remaining flour. Let rise in bowl, Stir down every 10 minutes: 5 times (leave wooden spoon in dough and cover). Turn out and knead slightly. Shape jelly roll style. Slash tops. Brush with egg white and sesame seed. Let rise. Bake for 35 minutes.
