1 Cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 large egg
2 Tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 Cups all purpose flour

1/2 Tsp Almond extract
Milk to blend (several tablespoons +/-)

Directions:
Directions:
Using electric mixer, beat sugar and butter in large bowl until light. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix just to combine. Divide dough in half. Gather each piece into a ball; flatten into disks. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 325 ºF . Roll out dough on floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Transfer to ungreased baking sheets, spacing 1 inch apart. Bake cookies until pale golden - about 15 minutes. Transfer to rack to cool.

Blend powered sugar, almond extract and just enough milk to form frosting (thick or thin - as you like it). Add food coloring if you want colored frosting. Spread on cookies and sprinkle with decorations (sprinkle after each cookie is frosted because the frosting dries fast and the sprinkles won’t stick if dry).

Unfrosted cookies freeze up to 1 month.
