1/4t.Vanilla
2/3c.Sugar
1/4t. Cream of Tartar
pinch of Salt

Beat egg whites till frothy, add Cream of Tartar, beat about 10 minutes. Add sugar 1T. at a time--Beating well after each addition. Beat until you do not feel sugar when pressed between your fingers. Add vanilla. Drop by teaspoons close together on a foil lined cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 350 then put cookies in oven and immediately turn off. Leave in the oven until morning, do not open oven for at least 2 hours. Preferably over night.

Mama Faye also called these Meringue Kisses. Sissy submitted this recipe and I remember Mama Faye made these often. We could eat them plainly or often she would top with ice cream and Hot fudge or Caramel Sauce. A real treat! She also had a version called Meringue Cookies which were the exact ingredients with putting them in a 275 degree preheated oven and baking for 40 to 60 minutes.
