Italian Wedding Cookies Recipe

Cookie dough:
3 ½ sticks butter, softened
2 cups sugar
7 large eggs
2 T. vanilla
½ t. baking soda
5 t. baking powder
8 cups flour

Icing:
3 cups powdered sugar
1-2 T. milk
2 T. melted butter
2 T. vanilla

Decorate with sprinkles or colored sugar.

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 1: In separate bowl, place flour, baking powder and soda and stir well.
Step 2: In very large bowl, cream butter & sugar with mixer.
Step 3: Add eggs one at a time and beat until well blended.
Step 4: Add vanilla and stir.
Step 5: Add half the flour mixture and blend with mixer.
Step 6: Add remaining flour mixture and mix by hand.
Step.7: Cover dough and refrigerate at least 8 hours.

Roll in walnut size balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 350 for 12-15 minutes until bottom of cookie is is light brown.
Remove and cool on cookie sheet.

Icing:
Step 1: Place powdered sugar in large bowl and add butter.
Step 2: Gradually add milk and vanilla until desired consistency.
Step 3: Ice cookies
Step 4: Decorate with sprinkles or colored sugar
Step 5: Let cookies sit until icing is set

Cookies refrigerate well up to 3-4 weeks.
