1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
2 qts. water
1 1/4 lb. new potatoes, skin on
2 tsp. chicken soup base
2-3 tsp. jalapeno juice
1 - 1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
2 (10 3/4 oz) cans Cheddar cheese soup
3/4 tsp. white pepper
3/4 tsp. garlic powder
Shredded Cheddar cheese, bacon bits and chives for garnish.

In a large kettle melt butter. Add flour and cook 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently (will burn in not watched closely).

Scrub potatoes and cut into 1/4 inch cubes. Place in a pan with water to cover and bring to a boil. Cook 10 minutes. Drain. Add to water mixture along with chicken soup base, jalapeno juice, Tabasco, Cheddar cheese soup, pepper and garlic powder. Simmer 20 minutes.

Top with garnishes if desired - 1 Tbsp. Cheddar, 1 tsp. bacon bits and 1 tsp. chives.
