½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3¼ cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1½ tsp vanilla

Directions:
Combine all ingredients. Chill dough. Roll out and put cut cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 425°F for 4-5 minutes.

The first time I had these they were in the shape of shamrocks. They were a recipe of Denise Pittinger Williams, and she brought them to the party, I taught Denise that St Patrick's day isn't 24 hours, but a season.
