4 c All purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp Salt
4 tbsp Sugar
1 dash Nutmeg (I prefer freshly ground)

2 c Milk
1/2 tsp Sugar
1 1/2 pkg dry yeast NOT INSTANT (3 tbsp Instant dried yeast)

2/3 c Crisco
2 Egg yolks reserve the whites
1 - 1 1/2 All purpose flour

Directions:

In large bowl sift together flour, salt, nutmeg and 4 tbsp sugar

Scald milk (Heat to just below boiling) in sauce pan)

Put 1/4 c hot milk in small bowl add 1/2 tsp sugar and set aside to cool below 115 deg
While still warm add yeast then put in a warm place to proof

Add the Crisco to the remaining milk in sauce pan and stir to combine let cool
Combine egg yolks into cooled milk and Crisco mixture

Add milk and Crisco mixture to sifted flour mixture beat to combine
Add yeast mixture and beat till all the little hunks are out
Gradually add 1/2 to 1 c flour and beat well until dough comes together

Sprinkle top with flour, cover with cloth and let rise 1 1/2 hrs in warm place

After forming bakery let rise for 20 min
Bake at 400 deg F about 25 min

This recipe will make enough dough for a 8"x 8" pan of Pecan Rolls, one 9"x 13" Apple Kuchen and one 8"- 9" Sour Cream Kuchen
Or one batch of Poppy Seed Doughnuts
